Hamim Zafar

Dr. Hamim Zafar is currently a joint faculty in the departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Biological Sciences & Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur. Prior to this role, he was a Lane Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, following the completion of his PhD from Rice University, USA in 2018. His research focuses on developingmachine learning and probabilistic modelling approaches for single cell and spatial omics datasets.  In addition, he also investigates the role of cellular heterogeneity in cancer. Dr. Zafar's contributions have been recognized through the Har Gobind Khorana-Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award from the DBT and the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Early Career Fellowship.
