Amit Dutt

Invited Speaker, University of Delhi South Campus

Dr. Amit Dutt is a Professor in the Department of Genetics at the University of Delhi South Campus (UDSC). His research group employs a genome-wide approach, developing computational tools to analyze large cancer genome datasets. These findings are integrated with in-vitro and in-vivo studies to identify key genetic alterations driving cancer development and progression. Notably, their study revealed an association of Fusobacterium in head and neck tumors, and they are now investigating how the spatio-localization of Fusobacterium impacts oral cancer progression, highlighting the clinical relevance of microbial influences on cancer. His lab also explores the role of microbial agents in human cancers, investigating potential therapeutic applications.
Prior to UDSC, Dr. Dutt served as a Principal Investigator at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He earned his Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from the Institute of Life Sciences, University of Zurich, Switzerland, and conducted postdoctoral research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.
Dr. Dutt has received several notable awards, including the Swiss National Science Foundation Fellowship, Julius Klaus Foundation Award, Ramalingaswami Fellowship, Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Fellowship, YIM Boston Young Scientist Award, Outstanding Alumni Award from JMI, DBT Tata Innovation Fellowship, and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Medicine.
