Liang Wu

Industry Supported Speaker, BGI Research

Dr. Liang Wu is a Principal Scientist at BGI Research focused on cancer biology, employing cutting-edge single-cell and spatial omics technologies to investigate key states of malignant cells and the tumor microenvironment during critical phases including tumor growth, relapse, metastasis, and drug resistance. Her pivotal work includes dissecting the unique ecosystem of early-relapse hepatocellular carcinoma using her self-developed single-cell full-length transcriptome platform (Cell 2021, designated an ESI Highly Cited Paper); and defining a 500 μm "invasive zone" in liver cancer via Stereo-seq spatial transcriptomics, identifying SAA1high damaged hepatocytes as prognostic predictors and potential therapeutic targets (cover-featured in Cell Research 2023). She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Cell, Cell Research, and Nature Communications.
