Shinichi Toyooka

Dr. Shinichi Toyooka, MD, PhD, is a distinguished physician and researcher in the field of thoracic surgery in Japan. He began his medical career in April 1994 at the Second Department of Surgery, Okayama University Medical School, and entered the Graduate School of Medicine at Okayama University. In September 1999, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology Research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in the United States. He completed his doctoral program at Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine in March 2001.
Dr. Toyooka was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Oncology at Okayama University Hospital in October 2004. In April 2011, he became a Lecturer in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the same hospital, contributing to clinical practice, education, and research. In April 2013, he was appointed Professor of Clinical Genetic Medicine at the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University. Since June 2017, he has served as Professor of General Thoracic, Breast and Endocrinological Surgery in the same graduate school.
